It is no secret that I am a huge fan of Lululemon but I have to admit, it’s losing it’s shine lately. The next big cult favourite brand is no doubt Alo Yoga. People at my studio are slowly but surely switching from full on Lululemon to full on Alo Yoga apparel for yoga.
Most of their operations are online, with most of the exposure from online ambassadors all over instagram. It seems to be the favourite brand among the instafamous yoga people. However, they do have two stores in California – one in Santa Monica and the flagship store in Beverly Hills.
When I was in LA early this year, I attended a yoga class at the flagship store, and took the chance to browse some of the products too.
The store display was like a high end boutique, nothing like an active wear shop. The products are of superior quality and are very thick to touch! I reckon only in season colours and products are put on display because there are more items available online.
I did not buy anything while at their store, but I did get to try on a few things. This is their famous Goddess Legging. It’s like their normal Airbrushed Leggings, but with little leg warmers below. The sizing runs bigger than Lululemon. Their XXS fits between a Lululemon 2 and 4 while an XS will fit 4-6. I am not sure about their consistency in sizes. For tops and bras, XS fits Lululemon 4 perfectly.
Look book featuring Dice and Briohny of Bryce Yoga, both of them Alo Yoga ambassadors.
Alo Yoga has a YouTube channel which features a number of yoga videos shot in their studio with various high profile yoga teachers. That’s the next closest thing to attending a class live I guess!
Few months later, I made my first Alo Yoga purchase! I shipped it free domestically and paid for international shipping from Ezbuy. I got my items in like a week or so, pretty fast I must say!
I love my items! I have the Aria Bra and Airbrushed Leggings in Neon Lily. The quality is so good. I was lucky to find these items on sale at a really good price. Orange is my favourite colour. I got them both in XS and they fit well. I was not confident about the bottoms because they did not have XXS online anymore for this item but thankfully it fit perfect. Perhaps this item runs smaller. When I tried the Goddess Leggings and Moto Leggings in store and from retail racks (Pure Yoga carries them), the XS was too loose for me.
