Matcha Mint Smoothie

I’m not into the whole green juice/ green smoothie thing but this green coloured smoothie is something different!

The green in this recipe comes from matcha and mint. No awful celery and that stuff. I was feeling in the mood for something matcha so I had this idea to try something uncommon. You don’t really pair matcha with mint in any circumstance, but never try, never know.

Matcha Mint Smoothie:

  • 1.5 ripe bananas
  • 1.5 tsp matcha powder
  • 2-3 sprigs of mint (one handful), washed
  • 1/4 cup coconut water
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin coconut oil

Place everything in a blender and blend away!

The resulting taste was good, refreshingly minty with a hint of matcha. The mint unlike other vegetables doesn’t have off the gross vegetable juice taste.

Mint goes well with chocolate all the time, so I added some raw cacao nibs. Chia seeds doesn’t affect the taste and can be stirred in to add some super food to your smoothie. I prefer not to have the chia blended. Chia will soak it self up with the liquids and it’s fine like that. Banana is important because that’s where the sweetness comes from. I like this smoothie and it serves both as a morning smoothie AND a morning caffeine boost (from the matcha)!
